The Rotary Club of Hundred Islands attended the 10th Charter Anniversary of the Rotary Club of Binmaley Century last October 30, 2008 at the Pangasinan State University –Binmaley Campus, Binmaley, Pangasinan.

Last October 23, 2008 in a joint meeting with Rotary Club of Paranaque Southwest, the Rotary Club of Hundred Islands honored the Top Performers for the month of September, 2008 at the Second Floor of Ro-An Building, Vereciano Street, Poblacion, Alaminos City.  Officers and members who joined in at least four (4) activities out of the combination of eleven (11) project implementation and five (5) induction and turn-over ceremonies received fitting recognition.

Last October 2, 2008, Hundred Islands Rotary President Henry R. Onia awarded Certificates of Recognition to club officers and members were present during implementation of club projects and Certificates of Appreciation to those who joined him joining fellowship with clubs within the District during their respective induction and turn-over ceremonies.  The third category of award given was the top solicitor for the Souvenir Program during the June 12, 2008 joint induction ceremonies of all the clubs in Cluster 2D in Villa Jireh Resort Hotel.

In a weekly meeting of the Rotary Club of Hundred Islands held at Fel-Am’s Restaurant, San Jose Drive, Magsaysay, Alaminos City, last October 2, 2008, Club President Henry R. Onia shared his expertise on the legal aspect of estate planning and the law on property relations between husband and wife.

Is it necessary to execute a last will and testament? How do I avoid estate taxes?  Are bounty hunters favored under the Family Code?

“The World of Rotary Transforms Youth Dreams into Reality,” is a simple but meaningful theme of the 2008 RYLA Convention held at Legenda Highland Suites, Subic Freeport Zone on October 24 to 26, 2008 hosted by Cluster 4C.  This program was attended by Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors and Rotakids from different  clusters.

Of course, the Rotaract Club of Hundred Islands represented by Rotaractors Clifford Magno, Prudencio Abella, Allan Palacio, Rodel Pol, Alfredo Tamayo and Melchor Bristol did not miss the opportunity to attend and experience the said event.

Bataan is a province of the Philippines occupying the whole of Bataan Peninsula in Luzon.  The province is part of the Central Luzon region.  The capital of Bataan is Balanga City and is bordered by the provinces of Zambales and Pampanga on the north.  The peninsula faces South China Sea to the west and encloses its arm, Manila Bay, to the east.

After a successful Medical-Dental-Bloodtyping-Bloodletting-Legal mission at Barangay San Jose, Alaminos City conducted by the Rotary Club of Paranaque Southwest and the Rotary Club of Hundred Islands there is a need for rest and recreation which will be done at the Hundred Islands National Park.  It is unbelievable that around 500 people were served on that day but it was achieved.

Abra is landlocked province of the Philippines in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) in the northern part of Luzon.  Its capital is Bangued and it borders Ilocos Norte and Apayao on the north, Ilocos Sur and Mountain Province on the south, Ilocos Norte and Ilocos on the west, and Kalinga and Apayao on the east.

As we prepare to observe Rotary Foundation Month in November, I’d like to remind all Rotarians of the Foundation’s goals for 2008-2009.

Summer afternoons spent at the baseball park cheering on three of her four boys were fairly typical for Leslie DeRay.  But her autistic son, Chad, had to stay with her in the stands.

“I would say, ‘Honey, when they bring a team that is just for you, I promise you will play on that team,’” DeRay recalls.
