Cacupangan Cave Clean-up Campaign |
|
In connection with the International Costal Clean Up Day last September 20, 2008, the Rotary Club of Hundred Islands conducted its share the following day, September 21, 2008 at the Cacupangan Cave, Tagudin, Mabini, Pangasinan. The participation of the club in the international activity is unique considering that it was not a sea coast which was cleaned but a cave because the Municipality of Mabini, Pangasinan, is landlocked.

This is an on-going legal advocacy program of the Diocese of Alaminos and the Rotary Club of Hundred Islands rendered through the Alaminos Community Broadcasting Corporation’s DzWM 864 kHz AM. The program started during the term of Past President Augusto “Gus” T. Ferrer which was renewed every year during the terms of Past President Oscar “Oca” N. Tolentino, Immediate Past President Ildefonso “Doods” M. Manzano, Jr. and at the present term of President Henry R. Onia.

It was the first day of school in Washington, D.C. and a new student name Dagohoy, the son of a Filipino immigrant, entered the fourth grade.
The teacher began, "Let's review some American history, class. Who said 'Give me liberty or give me death?' " She saw a sea of blank faces, except for Dagohoy's who had his hand up, "Patrick Henry, 1775." "Very good," said the teacher.

Hundred Islands Rotaractor in NF-JPIA Convention |
|
The Rotary Club of Hundred Islands sponsored the registration fee of the Rotaractor of the Rotaract Club of Hundred Islands who represented his school in the convention of the National Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accounts (NF-JPIA) held last September 19 to 21, 2008 at the Supreme Hotel Convention Plaza in Baguio City. The sponsoring was worthwhile because the delegates brought home some awards for themselves and for the school they represented. Foremost, the Hundred Islands Rotaractor sponsored by the club is very grateful that thru the sponsorship he was able to have unforgettable and unquantifiable experience.

Cureg; Rotary Club of Dasmarinas, Cavite, District 3810 headed by District Governor Josefina “Josie” S. Ang and Rotary Club of Makati Cristo Rey, District 3830 headed by District Governor Edgardo “Boyet” L. Limon.

The last three inductions in D3790 |

The last three induction ceremonies attended by the Rotary Club of Hundred Islands were that of Rotary Clubs of Western Tarlac, Mangaldan ’94 and Central Pangasinan last September 8, 13 and 14, 2008 respectively where President Ruby Subiate, President Diony Yancha and President Thelma Arenas received the gavel of responsibility ceremonially as they have assumed presidency last July 1, 2008 at the beginning of the Rotary Year.

RC Dasmarinas sisterhood renewed |

Last September 4, 2008, the Rotary Club of Hundred Islands attended the induction ceremonies of the Rotary Club of Dasmariñas, Cavite at the Bellevue Hotel, Alabang Town Center, Muntinlupa City. The sisterhood agreement was signed by President Henry R. Onia of the Rotary Club of Hundred Islands and President Isidro dela Cruz of the Rotary Club of Dasmariñas, Cavite. The instrumental witnesses on the side of RCHi were President-Elect/Secretary Antero “Roy” Magno, Cluster 2D Assistant Governor William “Iam” Chan and District 3790 Governor Jesus “Jess” Nicdao while on the part of RCDC were Secretary Ranel A. Baybay, Public Relations Director Olive C. Oliveros and District 3810 Governor Josefina “Josie” Ang.

RC Makati Cristo Rey - a new sister |

The Rotary Club of Hundred Islands signed a sisterhood agreement with the Rotary Club of Makati Cristo Rey last September 7, 2008 at the residence of Rotarian Jean Garcia in Pogo, Alaminos City, Pangasinan in the occasion of her grandmother’s 80th birthday. The sisterhood agreement was signed by Hundred Islands Rotary President Henry R. Onia and Makati Cristo Rey Rotary President Ramon Favila and their respective club secretaries, assistant governors and district governors.

Mega EDSA sisterhood renewed |
|
The sisterhood agreement with the Rotary Club of Mega EDSA, District 3780, was renewed last September 22, 2008 during their induction ceremonies held at the Aberdeen Court, Great Eastern Hotel, Quezon Avenue, Quezon City. The renewal agreement was signed by Mega EDSA President Dahlia “Dahl” P. Non and Hundred Islands President Henry R. Onia witnessed by their respective Club Secretaries, Assistant Governors and District Governors. The agreement will have three (3) years effectivity and automatically renewed unless terminated upon mutual consent of the parties.
