beverly huntAlthough a native of Charleston, West Virginia, my mother moved to Miami in 1956 and I followed in 1958 (not that I had a choice at that age!). I’ve lived most of my life in Florida, although I didn't really like Florida until after 1964. I finally moved from Miami to Highlands County in 1984, settling in Lake Placid in 1987.

July Top Performers

awards To recognize the efforts extended by the club members to the club, a fitting certificate was given last August 7, 2008 in a weekly meeting.

For their participation in sharing fellowships with ten (10) clubs in the District, Immediate Past President Ildefonso “Doods” Manzano, Jr. and Rotarian Jean Rendon shared the highest spot of attending nine (9) out of ten (10) induction ceremonies.

Second Cluster 2D meeting with Matching Grant Seminar

2nd cluster meeting District Governor Jesus “Jess” S. Nicdao had proposed that all clubs in District 3790 will have a project funded by Matching Grants.  This opened the avenue that allowed club leaders to learn the ropes of applying for Matching Grants.

Fellowship with D3790 Clubs

D3790 fellowships August is the second induction month where almost one half of the clubs in the district hold their respective induction and turn-over ceremonies.  The Hundred Islands Rotary is under obligation to attend the induction ceremonies of the clubs who were present to grace its own induction ceremonies held jointly with the clubs in Cluster 2D namely the Rotary Clubs of Binmaley Century, Lingayen, Midwestern Pangasinan and Dasol Bay.

PWD Mobility - Realized Dreams

wheelchair donation Last August 28, 2008 in the occasion of the Second Cluster 2D Meeting with Matching Grant Seminar, the Hundred Islands Rotary awarded a wheelchair to a Baltazar Lejero, a man born with deformed legs and feet.  The meeting – seminar was held at the Fel-Am’s Restaurant, San Jose Drive, Magsaysay, Alaminos City.

An Act Against Global Warming

tree planting The Rotary Club of Hundred Islands participated in the tree planting activity last August 25, 2008.  The areas covered by the activity were the city roads of Barangays Magsaysay, Cayucay, Mona and Pangapisan in the City of Alaminos.  The project was spearheaded by the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) in Alaminos City and the President of the Provincial Sangguniang Kabataan Federation.

For More Enjoyable Eating

weighting August 19, 2008 Sual, Pangasinan.  It warms the heart to learn that after thirty (30) days of eating nutritious meal once a day the District Supplemental Feeding beneficiaries in Dona Raymunda Verzosa Elementary School in Victoria, Sual, gained an average of one kilogram in weight.

Information Technology Seminar

There is a need to be abreast with the times or else techniques and knowledge will be antiquated.  The time is here and now.  Hundred Islands Rotarians have to learn how to communicate with the rest of the 1.2 million fellow Rotarians worldwide for international comity to flourish.

Last August 14, 2008 in a weekly meeting, resource persons from the Bitstop Services, Inc. came to update the club members of the Hundred Islands Rotary on information technology and the services that their company.

Awards Streamer Displayed

banner Let the public know that there exist a Rotary club in the locality, that the Rotary club is doing things for the community and as a result received various awards and citations, the Rotary International shifted to more aggressive public relations policies.

There is now a streamer showing the awards and citations received by the Rotary Club of Hundred Islands during the Rotary Year 2007-2008.
