Dream of new classroom - realized PDF Print E-mail

padan classroom Last July 22, 2008, the Rotary Club of Hundred Islands turned over to the Pandan Elementary School, Barangay Pandan, City of Alaminos, Pangasinan, the Rotary Building, an additional school building to separate Grade VI pupils from Grade V pupils who were previously sharing one room by signing a Deed of Donation. The club as Donor was represented by Immediate Past President Ildefonso “Doods” M. Manzano, Jr. and Pandan Elementary School as Donee was represented by Ms. Violeta Camba, school principal.

It was IPP Doods who signed the Deed of Donation because the project was started and completed during his term under the able leadership of then Acting President Delia “Delz” Cardenas as the former was on official leave to comply with his immigrant status to the United States of America.  Present during the Blessing and Turn-Over were IPP Doods, IPVP Delz and President Henry Onia who served as signatory and instrumental witnesses, respectively.  The other club members present were PP Oscar “Oca” Tolentino, President-Elect/Secretary Antero “Roy” Magno, Director Salvador “Zaldy” Palecpec, Rotarians Irineo “Irin” Onia, Jeanne Rendon and Brian del Rosario.  The instrumental witnesses to the Deed of Donation on the part of the Donees were Head Teacher Elena R. Oclima and Pandan Barangay Kagawad Celso C. Rabina.

Before the signing of the Deed of Donation, a simple blessing of the Rotary Building was conducted with Rotarian Irin, an Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister in St. Joseph Cathedral Parish, Alaminos City.

In addition to the donation of the Rotary Building, the club also donated a White Board in place of the antiquated blackboard together with five (5) pieces of White Board marker, White Board ink and White Board eraser sponsored by President Nominee/Assistant Secretary Christian Reubens “Rhob” Morante, the Administrator of the PASS College in Alaminos City.

As the building has no ceiling yet, Rtn Jeanne volunteered to donate her unused ceiling insulators which she finds no use for the moment.  The teachers of Pandan Elementary School have to hire able carpenters who could install the ceiling insulators to the Rotary Building.
