Malnourished pupils at Dona Raymunda Verzosa Elementary experience feeding PDF Print E-mail

victoria feeding Last July 30, 2008, the Rotary Club of Hundred Islands launched the 100-day once-a-day feeding program for malnourished and underweight pupils from Kindergarten to Grade IV at Dona Raymunda Versoza Elementary School, Barangay Victoria, Sual, Pangasinan.  This is in consonance to the thrust of the Rotary International President on health and hunger.

Vice President Ma. Concepcion “Beng” T. Briones drove her new car with Director for Club Administration Salvador “Zaldy” Palecpec as her passenger from the assembly point.  President Henry R. Onia waited for Immediate Past President Ildefonso “Doods” Manzano, Jr., Past President / Assistant Governor William “Iam” Chan and Rotarian Jeanne Rendon before leaving for the venue of the second feeding program of the club at Victoria, Sual, Pangasinan.

When the Rotarians arrived at the Dona Raymunda Verzosa Elementary School, the potato soup was already cooked and the pupil-beneficiaries were already assembled ready to partake of the first of the twenty foods items to be prepared for them during the duration of the feeding program.  Before the feeding activity, the pupil - beneficiaries were dewormed by the Municipal Health Officer of the Municipality of Sual and that the weights of the pupil-beneficiaries were taken before the start of the feeding program.

It took time for the Hundred Islands Rotary to locate the second beneficiary o the District Supplemental Feeding project.  The club could not implement in the Local Government Units of Alaminos City, Mabini and Burgos because their respective Mayors who are Rotarians are implementing their own feeding program funded with their own budgets.  Like Seselangen Elementary School where the first District Supplemental Feeding is on-going, it is the first time for the Dona Raymunda Versoza Elementary School experienced such project.
