My First Month as Rotary Club President PDF Print E-mail

turnover By  President Henry R. Onia

When one is  busy, a month breezes through swiftly.  This was what I experienced in the month of July, my first month as  Rotary Club President of RCHI.

The club was able to implement fourteen (14) projects so far.  Broken down in categories as follows:

Club Service Projects were:

  • the weekly issue of the club bulletin Moving Up,
  • the fellowship during the wedding anniversary celebration of Director Crelita “Cre” Doctor and Assistant Director Domingo “Doming” Doctor right after the Bloodletting project, in Burgos, Pangasinan,
  • Coastal Clean-up and Club Family Day at Cabongaoan, Burgos, Pangasinan,
  • the joint celebration of the club successes for the immediate past Rotary Year and birthday of Incoming President Henry Onia and
  • The First Cluster 2D Meeting.

The Community Service Projects were:

  • the turn-over of the Rotary Building at Pandan Elementary School,
  • the Free Legal Advice over the radio,
  • the Deworming project before the Feeding Project in Seselangen Elementary School,
  • the District Supplemental Feeding at Seselangen Elementary School, Seselangen, Sual, Pangasinan,
  • The District Supplemental Feeding at Dona Raymunda Verzosa, Victoria, Sual, Pangasinan,
  • Bloodletting project at Poblacion, Burgos, Pangasinan,
  • the transportation scholarship of blind students of Northern Luzon Association for the Blind, Inc.,
  • Coastal clean-up and Family day,
  • the launching of the repairs of the building of Magalong National High School using the funds sent by the Grosse Ile Rotary.

The International Service Projects were:

  • sending of Forty (40) Toast Cards to various Rotary Clubs around the world and
  • reporting through email to Grosse Ile Rotary where their donations were implemented.

We have shared fellowship with ten (10) clubs in the District namely:

  • Rotary Clubs of Olongapo Centennial in Cluster 4C,
  • Urdaneta East in Cluster 2A,
  • Western Pampanga in Cluster 4A,
  • Dagupan in Cluster 2B,
  • Metro San Fernando LU in Cluster 1B,
  • Vigan in Cluster 1A,
  • Baguio Summer Capital in Cluster 1B,
  • Mabalacat in Cluster 3B
  • Magalang in Cluster 3B and
  • Dagupan East in Cluster 2B.

I have to commend the following Rotarians who were with me and the  President-Elect/Secretary in attending these 10 induction ceremonies:

Rotarian Jeanne Rendon topped the billing with 9  inductions attendance, Immediate Past President Ildefonso “Doods” Manzano, Jr. placing second having attended 8 inductions, PE/Sec Roy on the third place with 6 inductions attendance, Rotarian Irineo “Irin” Onia on the fourth place having attended  5 inductions, Assistant Governor William “Iam” Chan and Sergeant-at-Arms Justo “Jazz” Bergonia on the fifth place who both attended four inductions, on the sixth place with 3 clubs induction attendance are Rotarians Marcelina “Celing” Cabrito and Arnel Melgar.

During the month, we  implemented  in eight (8) places  the following projects:

  • the Bloodletting and Doming and Cre Anniversary Fellowship at Burgos, Pangasinan,
  • District Supplemental Feeding at Seselangen Elementary School, Seselangen, Sual, Pangasinan,
  • Grosse Ile International Project at Magalong National High School, Magalong, Mabini, Pangasinan,

  • Rotary Building turn-over at Pandan Elementary School, Pandan, Alaminos City
  • District Supplemental Feeding at Dona Raymunda Verzosa Elementary School, Victoria, Sual, Pangasinan.

Commendations are due to the following Rotarians who were present in these project implementation:

Topping the list is Rotarian Jeanne with perfect attendance in all activities and projects.

The second notch is being shared by Past President Oscar “Oca” Tolentino and SAA Jazz who attended five (5) projects.  The third place is  shared by Immediate Past Vice President Delia “Delz” Cardenas, PE/Sec Roy, Rotarian Celing and IPP Doods  for attending  four projects.

The fourth place is shared by Past President Augusto “Gus” Ferrer, Assistant Auditor Felicidad “Felicing” Montemayor, AG Iam Chan, Rotarian “Irin”, Vice President Ma. Concepcion “Beng” Briones and Director Salvador “Zaldy” Palecpec who attended three projects and the fifth slot is  shared by Assistant Director Domingo “Doming” Doctor, Director Crelita “Cre” Doctor, Assistant Treasurer Maria Amparo “Amphie” delos Santos, Auditor Vicente “Vic” Rabago and Rotarian Brian del Rosario got attending two projects.

Looking back, I can say that although all the club members are busy, we were able to finish a lot for the month of July. With dedication and participation from every member, work and projects  of the club are implemented easily.
